Candle Light

Candles come in many colors, scents, shapes and sizes.

Candle light was used before electric lighting became common. People used candle light as one source of artificial light.

They are still used on the dining room table and are very popular now for relaxing and romantic activities.

Candles can be used in the fireplace, in the bathroom while taking a theraputic bath, and lets not forget when the electricity goes off.

Some have even used them in tents, but that is dangerous; a flashlight is safer. Candles can cause fires so do not leave unattended or near flammable materials.

When you light a candle, wax melted by the flame is drawn up an embedded cotton wick. This liquid wax burns, producing light.

The safest way to extinguish a candle is to smother it with a metal device called a snuffer.

This is so the hot wax does not get blown on to someone's skin. However most of us just blow it out.
