Under Bed Storage Space

Do you need extra storage space? What’s Under Your Bed? Is it a dark recess home to creepy crawlers, dust bunnies, books, socks, shoes and other miscellaneous items we can’t think to name?

Have clutter that you need to get organized? Well a great storage solution is to use the space going to waste under your beds.

How big is your bed? A twin bed gives approximately 18 sq ft, a queen approximately 30 sq. ft and a king about 36sq. ft. of flat under bed storage space.

Many beds for can be purchased with under the bed drawers, such as bunk beds and captain beds, but even some adult beds may come with drawers. Or you can purchase under bed storage drawers, baskets, carts, bags to put items in, and even shoe rack organizers on wheels. Wheels help make hard to reach spaces easy to access. I have even seen a basket with wheels for use under a crib.

If the bed is next to a wall or the area is not readily accessible consider using the storage space for things you do not need on a regular basis such as out-of season clothing and winter blankets. It would be good to use sealed storage to keep out the dust and bugs.

A great idea for children’s toys like puzzles, train sets and Lego is to provide a flat surface on wheels for them to build on that can be pushed under the bed when they are not playing with it. That way they will not have to dismantle their projects to tidy up their rooms.

So get organized and make use of that wasted storage space under your bed.
